Countdown to the Troy Turkey Trot begins

Make sure you have your running shoes ready on Thanksgiving because the Troy Turkey Trot is back in-person again.

It’s the first time since the pandemic started that racers can participate in person for the annual event, but it won’t look the same as years past.

Racers will have to wear a face mask at the starting line and finish line.

You can take them off when you are out on the course.

For anyone just watching this year, a face covering will need to be worn at all times.

The event director of the Turkey Trot, George Regan why it’s so important that this event is back in-person.

"It’s important to our country, our citizens, I mean everybody has been pent for the last 23 months," he said. "I think we’re all on edge and this is what we need. We need events like the Troy Turkey Trot, so people can come out."

There will be no finish line gatherings, award ceremonies, or warm-ups before the race.

All awards will be mailed to you.

If you are not yet comfortable coming out to the race on Thanksgiving, you can still participate in the race virtually.

Regan said theirs about 4,000 people who have already signed up for the Turkey Trot.
