54 people arrested in big Capital Region drug trafficking ring

Fifty-four people – mostly from the Capital Region, have been indicted on drug trafficking charges.

New York Attorney General Letitia James says the people are members of a drug trafficking ring.

They’re accused of distributing heroin laced with fentanyl, powder and crack cocaine and methamphetamine to Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady and Warren counties.

The drugs allegedly came from New York City dealers.

It was a yearlong investigation.

Prosecutors seized about two kilograms of methamphetamine, one and a half kilograms of cocaine, 14 grams of heroin, four handguns and $25,000 in cash.
