Vandalized Congress Park monument replaced

SARATOGA SPRINGS – A monument damaged by vandalism is back on its pedestal in Saratoga’s Congress Park.

The statue honoring volunteer soldiers from New York during the Civil War was damaged in July 2020.

Repair costs totaled more than $58,000 and were covered under the city’s insurance program.

Community donations of $14,000 were also made that were used for landscaping and security improvements.

No arrests have been made in connection with the vandalism.
