Hochul to join Biden for infrastructure bill signing

Gov. Kathy Hochul left for Washington Monday to join President Biden at the White House.

She was due at the 3 p.m. signing of the infrastructure bill.

She spoke to reporters before getting on a flight to Washington.

Hochul says the new law will mean $14 billion of federal money for road repair, airport and rail improvements.

There will also be $3 million used for clean water technology and $100 million for broadband improvements.

"It will help New York create thousands of jobs across the state. That’s what gets me so excited," said Hochul. "This is an opportunity in this post-pandemic world to let people know get the skills, go to apprenticeship programs, get trained, there’s jobs waiting for you to help rebuild this great state after we were knocked down so far, and we’re going to come back even stronger, even better than before."

The governor also announced the federal money will mean that fares in the MTA system will not be increased.
