An ID theft investigation at two M&T bank branches in North Greenbush ends with one man under arrest.
Workers got suspicious at the M&T Bank branch on Main Avenue.
Police say around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, 56-year-old Edgar Castro of Cohoes was trying to take out thousands of dollars.
Workers felt something was off, because police say Castro just came from another M&T Bank on North Greenbush Road, where he’s accused of taking out $4,400. That account was flagged because the actual account holder’s information had been compromised.
While trying to withdraw nearly $4,000 at this second location, bank tellers refused the transaction. They called police.
Officers say he tried to get away. They caught him near Marion and Russell avenues.
Police say Castro had several forged documents under the name of the actual account holder.
