Co-defendant in Troy quadruple homicide gets 25 years to life in prison

TROY – One of the men convicted of killing four people, including two children in Lansingburgh in 2017, was sentenced Thursday in Rensselaer County Court.

Family members of the murder victims didn’t hold back in their victim impact statements, labeling Justin Mann and his co-defendant James White, two criminal minded, heartless and extremely demonic individuals.

Mann, 28, will spend 25 years to life in state prison. That was a plea negotiated sentence for testifying against White.

The duo was convicted of murdering four people in December 2017 – Brandi Mells, Shanta Myers and her two children 11-year-old Jeremiah and 5-year-old Shanise.

In court on Thursday, Mann said he was sorry. He said he wishes he never got involved with White. He says he understands he will probably spend the rest of his life behind bars.

White was expected to be sentenced on Wednesday. However, that has since been moved to next week.
