Several communities holding ceremonies to mark anniversary of Capitol Riot

Several communities across the Capital Region are holding remembrance ceremonies and vigils Thursday, to mark the first anniversary of the U.S. Capitol Riot.

In Albany, a candlelight vigil is happening at 5 p.m. in West Capitol Park. It is being hosted by Capital Region Mothers Out Front, the League of Women Voters of Albany County, and Progressive Schenectady. It is one of more than 300 events happening across the country. Masks and social distancing are required.

In Glens Falls, a candlelight vigil is also happening at Centennial Circle, starting at 5 p.m.

A remembrance ceremony is happening in Columbia County. The event is being hosted by the Columbia County Democratic Committee and is happening at 5 p.m. on the steps of the Columbia County Courthouse.
