The Montgomery County SPCA is now working on a new home.
They broke ground Tuesday on the new property in Amsterdam. When complete, it will be a new shelter and animal welfare center.
The building they are currently based out of was built back in 1955.
The president of the Board of Directors, Jan Zumbolo, says there’s been a lot of work and repairs and they are excited to move into the new place because of all the support they have had from the community and volunteers.
“Now with this new building, we’re going to be able to accommodate more volunteers, so we’re happy about that.” said Zumbolo
The SPCA cares for animals that have been abandoned or abused.
