Van slams into Schenectady bar packed with patrons

SCHENECTADY – A Schenectady bar is closed after a van drove through its front windows.

Police say van ran a red light at Hattie and Van Vraken, then hit a second vehicle, and the bar.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to Ellis Hospital to be checked out, and are okay.

The van driver was issued a citation.

Police don’t think alcohol or drugs were involved.

Rookies Sports Bar & Grill posted on Facebook that they are closed until further notice after the crash.

Once the van was taken away, friends, family and even patrons helped clean and board the place up.

However, this means the bar will have to cancel their St. Patrick’s Day plans.
