Trial starts for former GE engineer accused of stealing trade secrets

The engineer at General Electric in Schenectady accused of stealing trade secrets is now on trial.
Xiaoqing Zheng of Niskayuna is charged with economic espionage and theft of trade secrets.
He is accused of hiding sensitive data about turbine technologies in a digital photograph which he emailed to himself, then forwarded to his business partner in China.
Opening statements were made Monday in federal court.
