Saratoga Springs announces arts celebration weekend

Supporters of the arts in Saratoga Springs want to welcome locals back to the art scene. They also want to attract new arts tourists as the city comes out of the pandemic.

Tuesday, leaders in the arts scene were joined by local lawmakers, including State Senator Daphne Jordan (R-Halfmoon), to announce the "All Together Now" arts weekend.

They plan to celebrate the city’s return from the pandemic and honor the way art, music and performance got many of us through isolation. The event is taking place from June 2 to June 5, featuring performances and exhibits at local arts spaces.

"The arts really have inspired us, kept us sane, kept us together during the pandemic, and we want to celebrate all the people, all the artists who made our lives easier during the pandemic," said Elizabeth Sobol, President and CEO of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

They’re hoping to attract cultural tourists from all over the northeast to spend the weekend in Saratoga Springs.

"It’s also about talking about Saratoga, Saratoga County, and our region as this really extraordinary cultural destination that is on an Amtrak train line, only three hours from Montreal, Boston and New York City, where people can come out from other cities, experience world-class arts," she said.

Arts centers opening their doors include SPAC, The Artists’ Retreat, Yaddo, and the Tang Teaching Museum.
