In Vermont, there is a proposed amendment to their state’s constitution.

It would guarantee everyone’s right to decide when to use birth control, start a family, or see a provider for an abortion.

Melinda Moulton, who lives in Vermont, often wonders how much more time she would have had with her mom if she could have accessed safe abortions in the 1950s and 60s.

Moulton lost her mother when she was just 12-years-old after her mother had a dangerous abortion at home that lead to a deadly infection.

Moulton worries about the potential of a sharp rise in unsafe, unsanitary, back-alley procedures.

"Do we want to go back there as a country? And if we do go back there, you’re going to see a lot more situations many, many, many more situations like my mom’s.”

She said she supports the amendment.

More than 20 states could be in a position to ban abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned.

Opponents are vowing to fight it hard leading up to November’s elections, people against the amendment say it favors the rights of women over the unborn.
