Gov. Hochul has vetoed a bill that would have expanded New York’s wrongful death law.
The bill would’ve expanded the law to cover emotional anguish and allow more people to bring claims.
The governor proposed a last-minute compromise with lawmakers to narrow the focus of the bill before she vetoed it, but the sponsors of the bill balked at the idea.
The governor says she’s willing to continue talks in an effort to reach a compromise.
