NewsChannel 13 salutes Able Seaman F. Rae (Bud) Surprenant of Glens Falls.
The father of eight left his senior year of high school to join the Merchant Marines in the 1940s. He later served in the U.S. Air Force.
He also raised eight kids.
He passed away in 1995.
