Woman flown to Boston after severe burns in Pittsfield fire

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – A woman was flown to Boston for life-threatening injuries, after she was rescued from a burning home in Pittsfield Wednesday morning.

The fire department said it happened around 1 a.m. on Hubbard Avenue.

Pittsfield firefighters say the fire started in the basement.

Emergency crews were able to pull a woman out from the first floor.

A firefighter was injured searching the basement of the home. He had to get a few stiches.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
