A former town of Poestenkill administrative assistant was arrested, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the town.
During a routine audit, the state comptroller’s office found that from March 2017 to September 2021, Michelle Asquith used the town’s credit card to make $2,200 in purchases for herself, ranging from video rentals to hair accessories, the state comptroller said.
Asquith also tried to charge another nearly $2,000 in other purchases, including spa services, but the charges were reversed before the audit.
Investigators say she also falsified reimbursement claims to pad her paycheck.
