New video shows frightening and tense moments from inside Monday afternoon’s lockdown at Albany Medical Center.
Police were negotiating with a man barricaded with several weapons in his 97-year-old mother’s hospital room.
The video shows four officers rushing past patients, carrying assault style weapons on them. There are many confused looks on people’s faces as they wonder what’s going on.
A banner across a hospital TV alerts people of the Code Silver – a safety code for the potential of an active shooter.
Law enforcement continue to surround the outside of the hospital as this happens, and patients watch in fear as the lockdown intensifies.
The suspect, Dino Savoca, was taken into custody several hours later.
Savoca’s mother died the next day.
