There’s a strong push happening right now for more transparency when it comes to prescription drug prices. Representatives of AARP New York rallied Thursday morning at the state Capitol in Albany. They had a giant blowup bottle of medicine.
They’re trying to get the attention of New York State Assembly members, along with Gov. Kathy Hochul as the state budget hangs in the balance. AARP representatives say transparency not only helps policymakers, but patients, relying on those prescriptions.
The governor and Senate proposals will help notify New Yorkers when drug manufacturers plan to increase prices, as well as disclose when pay-to-delay arrangements are made, said AARP representatives. Those delay the release of a less expensive drug, they said.
