Capital Region representatives vote in favor of bill to raise debt ceiling
Local Capital Region representatives – including Democrat Paul Tonko, Republican Elise Stefanik and Republican Marc Molinaro – were among those who voted in favor of a bipartisan package to raise the debt ceiling.
The measure passed the House by a vote of 314-117.
While not everyone liked the deal, many agreed it was better than an economic crisis that could happen if Congress failed to act.
The deal now heads to the Senate, and is expected to pass by the end of the week.
