After recent shooting, Amsterdam movie night will resume with increased police presence

Amsterdam Mayor Michael Cinquanti says the city is working on a plan to have total video coverage at Veteran’s Park, after last week’s shooting.

The shooting was an isolated incident, said Cinquanti, and he’s thankful no one got hurt.

He applauded police for their quick action, and said since that incident, they’ve continued to host events at the park.

“We don’t want to let the actions of some idiot destroy what has always been a great summertime activity, and so we’re taking the precautions we need so that people who come to the park feel safe,” he said.

The next movie night is scheduled for Wednesday, July 26.
