ONLY ON 13: The brother of a man killed last year at the R.J. Valente gravel quarry is speaking out.
Ryan Miller is still in shock. His brother, Darren, was his best friend, he said.
Miller was killed after a hook ball – weighing 285-pounds and attached to a crane at the gravel quarry in Grafton – fell on him on October 1, 2022.
Ryan said it took hours for him to comprehend that his brother was dead, and then he discovered how his brother died.
Anthony Valente, who the Rensselaer County District Attorney said was operating the crane, was charged with manslaughter.
NewsChannel 13 reached out to R.J. Valente for their response and have not heard back.
