Two people, including a 13-year-old child, were stabbed Sunday morning just after 10 a.m. inside an apartment in the 1800 building of the Brandywine Apartments off State Farm Road in Guilderland.
The other person stabbed was a 52-year-old woman. NewsChannel 13 is not naming her because police said she was a victim.
Guilderland Police said the two victims were conscious and alert when police arrived and were stable at Albany Medical Center Sunday evening. Captain Eric Batchelder provided an update at a news briefing Sunday afternoon.
A 26-year-old man, identified by Guilderland Police as Kahlee Hackworth, was inside the apartment for a time. He was taken into custody with the help of a State Police robot Sunday afternoon. Charges were pending.
Hackworth was located with non-life-threatening injuries and taken to Albany Medical Center, police said. Law enforcement did not answer questions about the nature of the injuries.
Neighbors told NewsChannel 13 the suspect and victims are well known to one another. Police did not confirm their relationship.
A neighbor, who wanted to be identified only using her first name, Linda, told NewsChannel 13 she helped the victims to safety when they banged on her door after the stabbing. She said law enforcement at the scene called her a hero.
This is a developing story.
