Historic bells being moved in Watervliet
The Watervliet skyline looks a bit different. Crews removed the tower from the Methodist Church on the corner of 1st Avenue and 14th Street. They are taking out the Meneely Bell inside.

Crews removed the tower from the Methodist Church on the corner of 1st Avenue and 14th Street. They are taking out the Meneely Bell inside.
The city will be relocating four bells throughout the city to more visible spots. They will be used to welcome people to the city, and spark interest in the history of the bells in Watervliet.
City leaders are also hoping to preserve the historical significance of the industrial revolution in the area.
The Meneely Bell Foundry was established in 1826, and produced about 65,000 bells before closing in 1952.
