Walk to Strike Out ALS held Saturday at HVCC
Walk Strike Out ALS was held on Saturday
The Walk to Strike Out ALS was held on Saturday at Hudson Valley Community College
The goal was to raise awareness of the deadly disease, which has no cure. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurogenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
“It’s been 80 years since Lou Gehrig passed away of ALS, and we have a few treatments and we’ve come far in helping people to navigate and manage the disease,” said Karen Spinelli, operations manager for St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center. “But we still do not have a really effective treatment or cure.”
