Two Wynantskill residents were charged in a shots fired investigation in North Greenbush.

Edward Goyette, 45, and Jessica Johnson, 40, were arrested.

Police responded to Dodge Street just after midnight October 29, after several callers reported hearing gunshots in the residential neighborhood. Officers arrived to find a man who told them someone fired a shotgun at him after a verbal dispute during a party at a residence, according to police.

The man hadn’t been shot, but was injured after leaving the scene, police said. He was taken to Samaritan Hospital by North Greenbush Ambulance for treatment of cuts.

An investigation determined that Goyette fired the shots, police said. Officers found the weapon used and other weapons that were not in compliance with the SAFE Act, police said.

Police did not determine if the weapon was fired in any particular direction. Both suspects were cooperative in the investigation.

Goyette was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of an assault weapon and criminal possession of a weapon- ammunition feeding device. He also faces misdemeanors of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Johnson was charged with criminal possession of an assault weapon and criminal possession of a weapon-ammunition feeding device.

Both suspects were arraigned in North Greenbush Town Court and released on their own recognizance. Both are due back in court at a later date.

It was a scary situation for residents of that area, Chief David M. Keevern said. He added there is no further danger to the public.
