A man has been charged in a Lake George motel stabbing.

Tony Velasquez, 47, allegedly stabbed another person at the Travel Lodge on Monday around 4:20 p.m.

Velasquez then fled into the woods behind the motel but was found nearby a short time later by a patrol officer, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said.

Velasquez did not know the victim ahead of time and the attack appears to be unprovoked, police said.

Velasquez was charged with felony counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned in Warren County Centralized Arraignment Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due in Lake George Town Court at a later date.

The victim was taken to Glens Falls Hospital.
