Construction has started on a $22 million housing project in Menands.

Half of the 67-unit apartment building at 35 Broadway will be reserved for homeless veterans. The other half will be set aside for people struggling to make ends’ meet.

State money is paying for the project.

Beacon Communities is the developer of the project.
