The former Chatham police chief will not be spending any time in jail.
The Columbia County district attorney says a judge sentenced Peter Volkman to two-year conditional discharge and one-year conditional discharge with 200 hours of community service.
Volkmann pleaded guilty to grand larceny and official misconduct in February.
He admitted to stealing from the New York State Retirement System, padding his pension.
He also hid outside income through a private business and collected reimbursements for expenses he didn’t have.
He has also had to pay more than $92,000 in restitution.
