A judge has set a July trial date for the Saratoga Springs man accused of killing his former partner.

Sebastian Mabb, 31, allegedly killed Brianna Craig inside her home on Vanderbilt Terrace during a domestic incident on Feb. 6 between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Mabb pleaded not guilty in Saratoga County Court on Friday to charges of second-degree murder and aggravated criminal contempt. He was wearing an orange prison jacket over a green jumpsuit, and he was shackled.

Craig’s friends and family were in the courtroom wearing yellow shirts saying “Justice for Brianna” on the front with her picture. The back had a message of domestic violence awareness.

Mabb and Craig were former intimate partners and had a child together.

Craig’s mother, Helen Travis, told NewsChannel 13 that her daughter was down to earth and loved life and everybody.

“It’s just sad that we’re here today because she took her,” she said.

Law enforcement sources tell NewsChannel 13 that Mabb smothered Craig with a pillow.

Mabb is facing 25 years to life in prison.

Judge Jim Murphy set a hearing for May 6 to accept or reject any plea offer. However, prosecutors have said there are no plea offers on the table at this time.

The trial is set for July 29.

This was the first murder in Saratoga Springs since 2018.
