Man charged in plane stalking pleads guilty

A Schuylerville man accused of stalking a woman with his plane has pleaded guilty.

Michael J. Arnold, 65, was arrested in October after police said he violated an order of protection that prohibited him from contacting a woman that he had been accused of stalking. Arnold had sent messages from a fake Facebook account to the woman.

Arnold had been involved in an ongoing dispute with the woman. Police said he was housing his 1976 Cessna 180 single-engine airplane at a Bennington airport and was seen flying toward New York days earlier.

Arnold pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court on Tuesday to criminal contempt.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 6.
