Much has been reported about violence in Saratoga Springs’ bar district over the last few months, but police and business owners maintain the city is a safe place to visit.
Police say the community has gotten a bit of a bad rap lately over much-publicized incidents of violence on Caroline Street.
Some of them led to one bar and restaurant, Gaffney’s, to temporarily close. It just reopened a couple weeks ago.
However, Saratoga Springs police insist the city is safe and that their preparations for track season include year-round conversations with their partners in law enforcement at the state and county levels.
The New York Racing Association has its own security staff for the track. The Saratoga Springs Fire Department also has an engine crew stationed there each day of the racing season.
