Secret Service denies breaking into Pittsfield salon

Vice President Kamala Harris brought a lot of her own security with her to an event in Pittsfield last week. NewsChannel 13 has learned some of that security team went into a local salon, and the owner said they didn’t ask for permission.

Alicia Powers, who owns 413 Salon, would have been happy to let the workers inside, she told NewsChannel 13’s news partners at The Berkshire Eagle.

Instead, Powers said she was away on vacation she saw video of them breaking in, using the bathroom and taking mints from the counter.

A former Secret Service member told Inside Edition this kind of behavior is unacceptable.

Meanwhile, a Secret Service spokesperson told Inside Edition that the agency apologized.

Workers would not enter or instruct partners to enter a business without the owner’s permission, the agency said.

A Secret Service spokesperson released this statement:

“The U.S. Secret Service works closely with our partners in the business community to carry out our protective and investigative missions. The Secret Service has since communicated with the affected business owner. We hold these relationships in the highest regard and our personnel would not enter, or instruct our partners to enter, a business without the owner’s permission.”

NewsChannel 13’s Dan Levy will have reaction starting on NewsChannel 13 Live at 4 and on WNYT.com.
