McCoy says he won’t seek airport CEO job
Albany County Executive Dan McCoy said Wednesday that he is not looking to be the next CEO of Albany International Airport amid reports that he was looking to change jobs.
The airport board is not renewing the contract of CEO Phil Calderone. The Times Union had reported that McCoy planned to move into that position. He is currently in the middle of a four-year term.
McCoy said he is staying in his current job.
“I love serving my constituents as County Executive, and it has been the honor of my life to fight to provide the best services for each and every resident. To be clear, I am neither applying for, nor will I be seeking the opportunity to serve as the next CEO of the Albany County Airport.” he said in a statement.
“My administration has made tremendous progress; however, there is still more work to be done to boost economic growth and create jobs throughout Albany County. The airport’s success plays a significant role in our future. I look forward to working with, and supporting the CEO candidate chosen by the Airport Authority Board, to ensure our continued success.”
