Albany Police arrest 15-year-old for having loaded AR-style firearm
Albany Police say they arrested and charged a 15-year-old male on Monday for being in possession of a loaded AR-style firearm.
This was following an incident that happened on the 100 block of South Pearl Street near South Ferry Street.
Officers responded to the area around 12:35 p.m. for reports of a person waving a gun out of a window.
Police say upon arrival, they observed a person throwing a bag out of a third-floor window. They say they recovered a firearm from inside the bag.
Authorities say they were successfully able to call out the individual within the residence without incident.
The 15-year-old was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, said police.
Police say he was released to a parental guardian and will appear in Albany City Family Court Wednesday afternoon.
