No one injured in large barn fire in Stockbridge, Mass.
Stockbridge, Mass. Fire Chief Vincent Garofoli tells us that there was a structure fire on Monday morning on 24 Glendale Road.
The fire department responded to a report for a fully-involved barn fire around 9:15 a.m.
Chief Garofoli says this was a two-alarm fire, involving mutual aid from Lee, Lenox, Great Barrington, Richmond, and West Stockbridge fire departments.
Garofoli adds that upon his arrival to the scene, the barn’s roof was partially collapsed into the second floor, and the fire extended into the woods to the right of the barn and to a 20-yard dumpster in front of the barn.
The Stockbridge Police Department controlled access to the scene and traffic during the fire, and the Stockbridge Highway Department supplied fire members with an excavator to help extinguish the fire, said Stockbridge Fire.
The fire department says Massachusetts State Police assisted in the investigation of the fire, and they believe it to be accidental. However, the origin and cause of the fire remains undetermined.
Garofoli says there were no injuries from the fire and the property owners were not in the barn when the fire started.
