President of Fulton County snowmobile club accused of theft
A Fulton County man is accused of stealing over $8,000 while president of a snowmobiling club.
Chad Daley, 52, was arrested for alleged financial misconduct as leader of the Stratford-based Snowdrifters Club. The nonprofit maintains snowmobile trails in the Adirondacks.
Daley served as president for more than 10 years. He stole $4,155 by depositing checks into his personal bank account, according to the state Comptroller’s Office and Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. He also allegedly wrote a $3,500 Snowdrifters’ check to cash, which was endorsed and cashed by his longtime partner, prosecutors said.
Daley also allegedly falsified business records to fraudulently obtain in $40,000 in state grant money for the organization.
Daley was charged with grand larceny, offering a false instrument for filing and falsifying business records. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Stratford Town Court on Dec. 3.
