New exhibit honors legacy of Lake George’s longest-serving mayor
It’s unique to have someone’s life’s work memorialized in a museum while they’re still here to talk about it.
Former Lake George Mayor Bob Blais is unique.
The remarkable story of the once longest tenured mayor in the country is the subject of a new exhibit at the Lake George Historical Association Museum.
When Bob Blais became mayor of Lake George in 1971, Nixon was in the White House and platform shoes were on our feet.
Blais held that position for a little over 52 years, making him the longest serving mayor in America when he retired in 2023.
NewsChannel 13 was there as he left the office on his last day, but his love for his community hasn’t left him.
When you’re in office more than 5 decades, you accumulate a lot of memories. Some of them are represented here at the Lake George Historical Association Museum.
It’s a new exhibit opening this weekend.
The museum’s president says the story of Lake George over the past 50-plus years centers around Mayor Bob Blais.
There’s an opening reception for the exhibit on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 24.
