Troy Turkey Trot happening today
TROY, N.Y. – Mayor Carmella Mantello issued several reminders to individuals visiting the City of Troy for the 77th running of the Troy Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28.
“Our event brings together more than 7,000 runners and walkers from 37 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Anguilla, and Australia, along with over 10,000 spectators, to celebrate the beauty of our historic downtown and neighborhoods as we kick off the holiday season,” said Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello. “With the cooperation of runners, spectators, and residents, we can ensure a fun, safe event for everyone. I look forward to welcoming everyone to Troy on Thanksgiving morning to celebrate family, community, and health.”
“We encourage all participants to support our community’s most vulnerable members by donating to the Trot’s two main charities: the Regional Food Bank and Joseph’s House & Shelter,” said George Regan, Event Director of the Troy Turkey Trot. “Just $1 helps provide four meals for hungry families. It can also provide warm shelter to homeless men, women, and children in Rensselaer County.”
