Niskayuna to announce police chief pick Friday

The Niskayuna Town Board will appoint the town’s new police chief this Friday.

The board is deciding between three candidates — all of them are internal. The candidates are Deputy Chief Michael Stevens, Sgt. Todd Frenyea, and Sgt. Jordan Kochan.

The town has been conducting background checks on the candidates this week following in-person interviews with all three last month.

Niskayuna Town Supervisor Yasmine Syed has also announced disciplinary charges against Stevens have been dropped.
