Even though the Saint Rose women’s soccer team did not walk away with a win in the national championship game, their fans say they are still proud of their team.
About 20 people gathered at the Events and Athletic Center for a watch party. Fans who watched the game were on the edge of their seats as it went into double overtime. Despite the 3 to 2 loss, Golden Knights fans say the team should still be proud of what of what they accomplished. The ladies had to play in the championship game during finals week.
"It’s heartbreaking. This is not a loss. They got all the way to the national championships. How many D2 schools can say that? It’s historic," said Lisa Haley Thomson," the chief of staff for the college.

"To get out there, it’s high stress level. I mean, you’re dealing with school, you’re trying to compete at the highest level you can," said Reese Casinelli, a junior at Saint Rose.
The ladies are expected to return campus Sunday. The team will be celebrated when they arrive back on campus.
