Albany County Executive Dan McCoy is presenting the county’s 2022 budget. This year’s $753 million budget includes a decrease in taxes and better benefits for county employees.
McCoy calls it a straight-forward budget.
“Our budget roughly went up $30 million from last year, but the cost goes up, everything goes up,” says McCoy.
Not going up this year are taxes. Under this proposed budget, the average $200,000 house would see about a $6 decrease in their taxes.
McCoy says $29 million in federal stimulus money from the American Rescue Plan helped make this budget happen.
McCoy also made it a point to take care of county employees. Not only will their medical, dental and vision plans improve. There will be more money for longevity pay.
