Albany County is out with a new initiative. People on probation in the county, who do not have a high school diploma, can get a GED thanks to a partnership with the probation department and Capital Region BOCES.
County Executive Dan McCoy says this will help people get jobs.
People can take the classes virtually and in-person.
"There’ll be no excuse, and we’re going to make it easy, and we’re going to have a mentor program, so they don’t fall through the cracks," said McCoy.
As of Monday morning, McCoy said 105 people have signed up for the program.
