An Albany doctor has agreed to pay $50,000 to resolve allegations that he wrote prescriptions for controlled substances without legitimate reasons.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Dr. Larry Bruni did this on numerous occasion from 2016 through 2020.

He’s also agreed to surrender his DEA registration, which means he can no longer write prescriptions for controlled substances.

In a statement released Monday, DEA Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan said instead of providing appropriate treatment and a safe haven for patients, Dr. Bruni perpetuated the cycle of addiction.
