Albany man convicted in September 2020 stabbing

An Albany man has been convicted for stabbing a woman.
Nicolas Mendez, 27, was found guilty in Albany County Court of 1st degree assault.
The stabbing happened in September 2020 on Mercer Street in Albany.
The victim was stabbed multiple times in the face and neck.
The district attorney’s office says the victim needed surgery and will have permanent impairments from the attack.
Mendez and the victim do know each other.
Mendez faces up to 25 years to life in state prison when sentenced in February.
