Arrest made in connection to Central Avenue homicide

Albany police are reporting that a 39-year-old Watervliet man has been charged in connection with a homicide on Central Avenue.

Police arrested Sean Pacheco Sunday afternoon following their investigation.

Early the same morning, officers responded to the 300th block of Central Avenue between North Lake Avenue and Quail Street for reports of gunfire. Officers found 35-year-old John Welcome outside with gunshots to his torso. He later died from his injuries at Albany Medical Center.

Pacheo was taken into custody by Albany detectives and is being charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Monday.
