Arrest made in killing of SUNY Potsdam student

Classes at SUNY Potsdam were canceled Monday after a student was shot and killed.

State police say 21-year-old Elizabeth Howell was killed Friday night. They found Howell lying on the side of the road with gunshot wounds. She was taken to the hospital, where she died.

Under arrest is 31-year-old Michael Snow of Massena.

Investigators are working to figure out a motive, but say it appears to be an isolated incident.

Howell was a music education student and was a part of the class of 2022. The school is planning a vigil and memorial concert in honor of her in the coming days.
