Canal Corp. preparing to lower water level in caution of Hurricane Henri
The New York State Canal Corporation is making preparations for Hurricane Henri.
To be cautious, the corporation is planning to possibly lift its movable dams Sunday morning between Lock E-8 in Rotterdam and Lock E-15 in Fort Plain.
Residents are encouraged to take appropriate actions regarding vessels, docks, or other seasonal structures in these areas which may be impacted or damaged by significantly reduced water levels.
They say if the storm requires lifting of the movable dams, vessels and docks would experience a full lowering of the Canal to winter levels and would likely be grounded following the movable dam lifting operation.
The Canal Corporation will continue to monitor the path of the storm and will update its plans accordingly.
NewsChannel13 will provide any updates as we get them.
