Despite what you may have seen on social media, there is no active legislation that would let the governor order the unvaccinated to be detained.
The bill was actually introduced in 2015 during the Ebola outbreak. It has never had support. It has no matching bill in the Senate.
Bottom line, it had no hope of becoming law.
As NewsChannel 13 has reported, the sponsor of the bill, Assemblyman Nick Perry issued a statement last week saying since misinformation is once again spreading about it, he decided to remove it from the calendar altogether.
