RENSSELAER – The ballot counting in the Rensselaer City mayor’s race was expected to resume Friday, but it’s now on hold.

The Rensselaer County Board of Elections tells NewsChannel 13 since there is a court case pending on allegations of ballot fraud, they must wait to count the remaining ballots.

Incumbent Republican Michael Stammel is leading Democrat Richard Mooney by just 11 votes.

There is an objection from both teams to 129 of the absentee ballots.

A judge will hear the ballot case in county court next Friday.
