DEC attaches collars to moose to monitor their health
If you happen to see a moose in the area, don’t be surprised if it’s wearing a collar.
The state DEC is trying to figure out why young moose are not thriving, so they’ve attached GPS collars to 14 calves so they can monitor their movements and their health as they mature.
DEC is working with researchers from Cornell University to figure out what parasites are impacting juvenile moose population in New York.
